Behind the scenes in my little calligraphy studio is different every day. Every commission I'm asked to write is a really thoughtful, unique gift - which means the calligraphy I write comes in all shapes and sizes!
These are a few commissions and orders to show you just how different every calligraphy gift can be. There's some song lyric calligraphy on A3, a set of two shorter pieces of writing on A5 paper, a vintage style family tree, and a round experiment which didn't work but was fun!
I love white ink - I use Dr. Martin's Bleedproof White ink, which calligraphers worldwide swear by. Having a piece of calligraphy written in dramatic white ink on a darker piece of paper really makes for a standout gift. (And it makes me happy to write it for you too!)
The last of these pieces was written in shades of blue - a beautiful calligraphy gift inspired by the sea. The colours worked really well. The space on the side is for an illustration - the final personal touch for a very special personalised birthday gift.

I love what I do - it's never just about writing, but about helping someone find the gift of a lifetime for someone they love. I like to call it 'the art of thoughtful gifting'. Calligraphy commissions are very personal, whether the words are a poem you've written, share a love of - or perhaps a song you danced to when you first met! And giving someone a piece of calligraphy you've had written especially for them is a wonderful way to show how much you care.
