If you're looking for something really special to give as a keepsake gift for a new baby, one of my new Christening calligraphy poems might be just the thing!

A lovely man in a pub, which could have been somewhere near Durham(!) once told me about the gift he'd bought for his grandchild, and I'll never forget how he spoke about it. He was so proud, so thrilled with having chosen such a personal, unique gift.

I think part of the joy was the way he'd collaborated with the artist and calligrapher to make the gift really special. I've wanted to design some christening gifts in calligraphy ever since, and this week I've added three unique pieces to my online shop. There will be more to come!

Christening calligraphy gift and keepsake with references to nature

A calligraphy poem for a new baby, personalised with a message from grandparents, with date of birth. The wording is below:

Welcome to this precious world

A planet full of hope,

Of life and trees, of skies and seas

To discover as you grow.

Adore this planet, little one,

Care and show it love,

As we will guide your heart and soul

To nurture, heal and give.

Find peace wherever nature wins,

And calm in living earth.

Take strength from birds and waves and light

Dream big, be brave, and learn.

Know you’re loved for ever more

Our hearts full and content

To see your joy in natural things

And call this land your home.
